Catering Assistant Manager

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and hands on Assistant Kitchen Manager to support the smooth running of a busy production kitchen environment, with a strong focus on people, product quality, hygiene, standards and daily workflow.

You will support the Kitchen Manager across food preparation, cooking, baking, product consistency and team supervision, helping to ensure the kitchen delivers high quality products efficiently every day. The role will involve keeping production moving, supporting the team through busy shifts and maintaining excellent standards across food safety, cleanliness and organisation.

The ideal person will come from a food production background or a large scale kitchen environment, with experience supporting teams, maintaining standards and keeping operations running smoothly. This role would suit someone who enjoys structure, pace and consistency, while also having the confidence to guide others and help drive standards across the kitchen.

Assistant Kitchen Manager Ideal Profile:

  • Previous experience in a high volume food production or large scale kitchen environment
  • Supervisory or management experience within a food led business
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification or equivalent
  • Confident supporting, training and motivating kitchen teams
  • Strong attention to detail with a genuine focus on food quality and consistency
  • Able to work under pressure and adapt to the needs of a busy shift
  • Practical, reliable and hands on, with a positive approach to daily kitchen operations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support workflow and team organisation

Assistant Kitchen Manager Responsibilities:

  • Support the Kitchen Manager with the daily running of kitchen operations
  • Assist with preparation, cooking, baking and production to ensure a smooth daily workflow
  • Maintain consistent standards across product quality, portion control, temperature and presentation
  • Help ensure all food is prepared in line with agreed recipes, standards and procedures
  • Supervise, train, mentor and motivate kitchen team members during each shift
  • Support with rotas, staff planning, performance conversations and day to day team management
  • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene, food safety and organisation
  • Take a proactive approach to problem solving, communication and operational improvement
  • Help create a positive kitchen culture where the team feels supported, valued and clear on expectations
