Let me give you a little insight into who I am and why I decided to join Ginger. I have worked in and around the hospitality industry for almost 20 years now, having grown up in a busy food pub in the Peak District (the term “gastropub” had not been invented back then!) Having pulled my first pint at the tender age of 2 years old, the industry has been my main passion ever since! After graduating from university, I went straight into the world of recruitment, working my way up from trainee recruitment consultant to senior account manager before going on to run my own catering supply business and then take on my own pub, the Ribchester Arms in the Ribble Valley.
This is where Ginger comes in…
As much as I enjoyed my time at the Ribchester Arms, unfortunately it flooded twice during our 8year tenancy and unable to secure flood insurance it was time for a change. Ginger approached me to come on board as Commercial Manager and I couldn’t say no! The hospitality team has such a depth of knowledge and professionalism that I have not seen before in the industry, so to have the opportunity to join the team and add my years of experience of not only running my own business but supplying into the trade, the prospect seemed such a good fit that I didn’t want to look anywhere else.
It has been so refreshing to join a recruitment business that understands the day-to-day problems that hospitality owners and managers experience as so many of the team have managed hospitality businesses previously. It has been great sharing war stories with other ex-landlords and managers but with that, we know and understand how important it is to get staff that are reliable, competent and make customers want to come back time and time again.
Now that I am a part of Ginger, I look forward to partnering with businesses who are looking to expand their teams and getting a deep understanding of their needs and wants, what sets them apart from the crowd and then making sure the team find the best talent out there! … whether it be a permanent position or urgently needed short-term relief cover.
