Right in our neighbourhood, the Clitheroe Food Festival is a celebration we eagerly await each year. It warms our hearts to see many of our favourite local businesses, showcasing their passion and craft. So, as the festival date draws nearer, our excitement knows no bounds. And hey, if you’re heading there, keep an eye out for some familiar Ginger faces!

Nestled in the heart of Ribble Valley, the Clitheroe Food Festival promises a blend of tradition and innovation. This year, the Ribble Valley Borough Council has upped the ante with a series of ‘Taste Fest’ experiences throughout the week. The main event on the 12th of August will see the Clitheroe Market and the Holmes Mill complex come alive with flavours, complemented by the spectacular flyby of the RAF’s Red Arrows. Let’s have a closer look at some of the exhibitors at this year’s Festival:

The Port of Lancaster Smokehouse

Nestled in Glasson Dock, The Port of Lancaster Smokehouse is a beacon for those who crave authentic smoked flavours. They stand by their philosophy: the shorter the journey from catch to the smokehouse, the richer the taste. With numerous accolades under their belt, their commitment to quality is undeniable. Whether you pay a visit to their factory at Glasson Dock or swing by their festival stand, you’re in for a heartwarming welcome and an unforgettable taste experience.

The Olive Tree Brasserie

Dean Wilson’s vision of a Greek/Mediterranean culinary haven took shape in St Annes in 2007. Since then, the Olive Tree Brasserie has only soared in popularity. Their modern take on Greek and Mediterranean dishes has left countless diners yearning for more. Mark your calendars for the 12th; a taste of the Mediterranean awaits you!

No 1 Fairham Gin

A brainchild of Ellis and Liam, Fairham Gin is a tribute to their home in Penwortham. As a multi-award-winning gin distillery, they’ve mastered the art of crafting small-batch, copper pot distilled gin that captivates with every sip. Their Dry Lancashire Gin, 100% vapour infused, promises a symphony of flavours.

Escape with Coffee and Cocktails

Since 2014, Esc CC has been the go-to spot for coffee lovers and cocktail enthusiasts in Clitheroe. Born out of passion and creativity, they’ve carved a niche with their unique offerings. This festival, they’re bringing pre-bottled takeaway cocktails, refreshing drinks, and tantalising Sushi platters by Hitchens Kitchens. A true treat for the senses!

Procters Cheeses

Chipping, a picturesque village, has been home to the Procters’ cheese-making legacy since the 1930s. Now led by the fourth generation, Tim Procter, they continue to craft some of Lancashire’s finest cheeses. Their Kick Ass cheese, a crowd-pleaser, is a testament to their dedication to quality. A word of advice? Grab some before it’s all snapped up!

As the festival approaches, we’re gearing up not just to attend, but to immerse ourselves in every moment. If you’re around, we’d love to share a moment, perhaps over a drink or a local delicacy. And don’t forget to check out our next “Where Ginger Goes” feature next Monday to see all our highlights from the festival. Here’s to good times, great food, and the best of company.
